"Die Bayrische Hackerpost" was compiled by the Bavarian hacker scene in Munich from December 1984 to around 1989.

It included technical information, critical reflections, and humorous contributions.

In total, there were 13 issues (A5 format), numbered octally—so issue 10 is actually the 8th edition. Additionally, there were two special issues, each released for the trade fairs IFA 85 and SYSTEMS 85.

The pages of the Bavarian Hacker Post were numbered hexadecimally—so page $0A is actually the 10th page.

The "NUA - Guide" (a collection of DATEX-P numbers) and "Vatical - The Apocalypse of Programming Languages" (a satirical description of a fictional programming language) were also created by the editorial team (the "Redactors") of the Bavarian Hacker Post.

Authors of the Bavarian Hacker Post, as well as members of the Chaos Computer Club, were frequently invited as guest speakers on the radio program "Bit, Byte, Bitten - The Computer Magazine on Zündfunk" broadcast by Bayerischer Rundfunk on Bayern 2 (first aired October 7, 1985, discontinued in late 1999).
