... it, the story is a nice self-contained tale about two of my favorite characters. Plot and humour gel in the absolutely wonderful _DC Comics Presents_ #81, as Ambush Bug decides to team up with Superman to defeat the villainous Kobra. The Bug finds a pretty red rock which he gives to Superman -- but, of course, the rock is red kryptonite (see! toldja!) and it switches each character into the other's body. Wacky hijinks ensue. If you buy only one Ambush Bug comic -- this is the one to get. But wait! Don't touch that dial! There's more! 1985 is a good year for the Bug as he also gets several 8 page stories in _Action Comics_ (#560, 563, and 565) an ...

... t if' and shows what these comics could accomplish if there were no constant demands of continuity. Last month I gave a perfect 5.0 to _Man of Steel_ #81. This month I have learned the hard lesson that when you get a perfect issue, the next issue will almost certainly be a letdown. Such was _Man of Steel_ #82. As you probably remember, in last month's issue, the 1938 era Lois had been captured by the Nazis and was trapped aboard a prisoner train headed out of Warsaw for a concentration camp. It was a pretty awesome cliffhanger, with Lois condemned to a horrible death, and Superman too busy stopping the tanks from levelling the ghetto to help. Be ...

... UPERMAN #58 [1949], the Fortress was described as being in "polar wastes," although Luthor discovers Superman's hideaway in the MOUNTAINS in SUPERMAN #81 [1953]. In 1971, E. Nelson Bridwell stated that Luthor's discovery of the hideaway prompted its movement to the Arctic. In 1981, he basically removed these two stories from regular continuity. * Superboy first appeared: MORE FUN COMICS #101 [1945] NOTE: This was the first time that it was stated that Clark Kent grew up in a small town.
