... origin were already a problem. But despite Superboy and the powers problem, the original origin would be used clear up until July 1948, in _Superman_ #53, and the yellow energy part would not used until March 1960, in _Action_ #262. <http://www.fortress.am/History/VersionII.html; http://www.fortress.am/History/VersionIII.html> So the radio show was simply following the only Krypton origin that existed in 1940: the one that Siegel and Shuster themselves had created and which had appeared in both _Action_ #1 and in the newspapers. It would have been impossible for the radio show to use the yellow energy origin, ...

And Superman, Superboy, Steel, and Supergirl all have small roles or cameo appearances in _JLA/Titans_ #3. ... oice my opinion about the recent (and ongoing) changes in the Superman titles and my decision to drop them. After reading the couple of letters in KC #53 where two long-time readers have decided to drop all Superman titles, I examined my own decision (that I had made some weeks ago) to drop them myself. The primary reason is the dollar amount vs. the amount of enjoyment I receive from the books. Although I have not had a comic that I didn't receive *any* enjoyment out of reading it (well... for the most part at least), I can't say that I feel that paying almost $2 a book is worth it at this point. And with the looming thought that another price ...

... and White Dimension", a sort of monster storage closet, when Superman finally tracked them down and saved Jimmy's mom. That all went down in SUPERMAN #53, roughly seven years ago. While the B&W Dimension has been used since then, Simyan and Mokkari haven't been seen, so if you don't remember these guys, now you know why. Our story opens on the monster makers, who've been filling the Dimension with their monster creations. The place is so crowded they have to escape by--you guessed it--making a monster capable of interdimensional travel. They begin work immediately. Back on Earth, Morgan Edge has been stealing technological doodads from the Hairi ...

... Man Who Stole the Sun" is from SUPERMAN #48 (September-October 1947). It features Superman vs. Lex Luthor. "The Origin of Superman" is from SUPERMAN #53 (July-August 1948). It is the first full length story of Superman's origin, which had only previously appeared as two pages in SUPERMAN #1. "The Man Who Bossed Superman" is from SUPERMAN #51 (March-April 1948). Superman outwits racketeer "Pudge" Purdy. **** Anyone up for a historical review of this reprint for a future Phantom Zone? While reading the entire comic with those 3-D glasses on caused a bit of a headache, I actually enjoyed the reprint more than I did the RED/BLUE special. Not th ...

... ed. Though it is possible that she survived the tanker's explosion, it seems more likely that it truly was a Fatal Obsession. (ADVENTURES OF SUPERMAN #538, Sep 96) Conclusion Superman's romantic encounters have not generally been as happy as Clark's relationships, though they have often been more unusual. Nonetheless, these in-costume romances are important for what they reveal about Clark and Superman. On one hand, they demonstrate to us readers how Kal-El is same in either guise. On the other hand, they show how the public perceives the man differently by his clothing. Thus, while the great love triangle of Superman comics ended when Clark rev ...

... finally been mentioned in a Superman story, however, did not mean that the conflict between the two series was over. Seven issues later, in SUPERMAN #53, his origin was retold with nary a mention of a Superboy career. Superman story lines would ricochet back and forth for the next decade between acknowledging, ignoring, or denying the existence of a Superboy. Much later, these contradictions would be explained as the adventures of two parallel Supermen, the Superman of Earth-2, who was never Superboy, but a member of the Justice Society, and the Superman of Earth-1, who did start out as Superboy and later became a member of the Justice League. ...
