... placed far from human hands, drops it into a crevice in the Antarctic. But as he flies away, the device activates itself. In _Adventures of Superman_ #460, the device creates the Fortress of Solitude under the Antarctic ice. It co-opts two scientists, mind controlling them into acting as Kryptonians, and it begins drawing Kryptonian artifacts through a portal connected to a "Phantom Zone". Superman links with the Eradicator and learns that it was created by one of his ancestors, Kem-L, to keep Krypton pure from alien influences. In a memory flashback, Superman hears Kem-L explain, "The Eradicator will ultimately bind every soul to Krypton -- slo ...

... , "I think Steel has a place on the team, and I think Atom has a place on the team." And the JLA/JSA crossover, set to occur around _JLA_ #45 and #46 and _JSA_ #15 and #16, will bring back Hawkman and iron out the continuity confusion that has been plaguing him for so long. NICIEZA BRINGS THE SUPERMEN OF AMERICA CENTER STAGE Writer Fabian Nicieza, best known for creating Marvel's excellent _New Warriors_ series, is taking another crack at the teenaged superhero. This time it's the Supermen of America in a 6-issue series debuting in January of 2000 and pencilled by Dougie Braithwaite (_Green Arrow_). In a recent interview with Newsarama (http ...

... es I am going to review are from his run on the main Superman titles. Jurgens wrote and pencilled a real treat of a story in _Adventures of Superman_ #463. It's a race between Superman and the Flash to determine who is the fastest man alive. The story, an homage to the classic Silver Age races, has Superman being forced to race Wally West by Mr. Mxyzptlk. Not a lot else going on in this issue other than a fun race with several twists and surprises from our favorite 5th dimensional imp. And unlike the original races, we have a clear winner -- Flash. In _Adventures of Superman_ #466, Jurgens has Fantastic Four analogues meet the Man of Steel. A sp ...

... disappears, Luthor's aide worries that Luthor has taught Mxy to lie. Mxy does return and shows that he has learned to lie in _Adventures of Superman_ #463. He arranges for a race around the world between Superman and the Flash (Wally West). His rules are that if Superman wins the race, Mxy will go away again for another 90 days. Flash is promised a special prize, selected just for him if he wins. At the end of the race, Flash wins. Mxy swears and says that he now has to go home. He had tried one of Luthor's tricks and been setting up a false deal. Despite what Mxy had said, he was only planning to leave if Flash won. He says, "You win because I ...

... ossovers, and it doesn't disturb the regular _Aquaman_ story line too much either. Peter David will be sorely missed on this book when he leaves with #46. JO: 3.5 Shields - Fans who only picked this up for the crossover might have a hard time resisting the temptation to add it to their monthly comic order -- myself included. JP: 3.7 Shields - David succeeds at making the Giants seem like a threat, and also manages to make this issue fit into the _Aquaman_ series as a whole -- something not usually achieved in 'mega-crossovers'. JSy: 3.5 Shields - Not being a regular reader of _Aquaman_ hurt me on this, as I had no clue about the title-specific s ...
