... etic structure is literally melting as a result of tampering by a group called the Agenda, who created a clone of Superboy's called Match (_Superboy_ #35-36). The story comes to a climax in _Superboy_ #41 when Roxy Leech volunteers to risk her life. The only way to save Superboy is to speed up the cell degeneration and then rebuild it using a donor's template. The catch is that the donor has to undergo the same process. Since the donor must be close to Superboy's physical age of 16, Roxy is the only compatible volunteer. Some tense pages later, Superboy and Roxy are both back and whole and they seal their resurrection with a big kiss. The proces ...

... nel in _L*_ #37. The Legion earns its political freedom and deals with the new Fatal Five in five terrific issues starting with _LSH_ #78-80 and _L*_ #35-36 (the Legion titles have numbering similar to the Super-titles; these issues are 1996:5-9). The Legion battles one of its greatest enemies, Mordru, for the first time in _L*_ #48-50. Another arc worth reading is the battle against the Dark Circle in _L*_ 62-65 and _LSH_ #106-108 (numbered 1998:13-19) RECOMMENDED LEGION READING LIST: PART 2 For anyone interested in the pre-Zero Hour stories of the Legion, a good place to start is the 7-issue _Who's Who In The Legion of Super-Heroes_ from 1988. ...

... =========================== From: Anatole Wilson (awilson@us.oracle.com) Regarding Scott Devarney's review of "Superman's Day of Destiny" (_Superman_ #352): Scott compares the story to _DC Comics Presents_ #29, where the Spectre prevents Superman from going into Heaven(?) to save Supergirl. I think this comparison is slightly off the mark, since the Spectre story shows that there are powers more ultimate than Superman's, whereas the _Superman_ story attempts to show that while Superman could have easily handled the problem, acting as the all-powerful protector eventually does more harm than good. A much better comparison (and far superior story) ...

... !" This mental connection or awareness between Brainiac and Superman surfaces in other stories also. Brainiac remains as a backstory until _Superman_ #35, in which Ordway writes of the comatose Brainiac and his dreams alongside a story of the also comatose Morgan Edge, who fights off death in the form of the Black Racer. There's lots of fun for Silver Age fans, as we see homages to classic stories (Superman trapped in the birdcage, the living Brainiac-ship, shrinking a city into a bottle). The major advancement of the story is that Brainiac learns to free his astral form from his trapped body. In "The Brainiac Trilogy" (penned by Roger Stern and ...
