... o his ignorance of where Batman's wire gun is located on his utility belt. This episode can be seen as a sequel to the story in _Superman Adventures_ #25. In that story, Superman teamed up with Batgirl and learned that his methods don't always work in Gotham; this episode furthers this idea as Superman tries to use Batman's tactics on Batman's enemies -- it isn't until he confronts his foe Brainiac that Superman is able to cut loose. Speaking of Brainiac, the Superman - Brainiac battle serves to nicely balance the episode between "Batman-style" action and "Superman-style" action. The clues to Bruce Wayne's abductor scream "Brainiac," which lessen ...

... erboy. AL: 3.5 Shields - I like Knockout. Great issue as always. JS: 2.5 Shields - Feels like we're marking time for the big story beginning in issue #25. Grummett is much more effect as a penciller than as a layout artist. AW: 4.0 Shields - I never thought much of Knockout before; with this issue, she's become much more complex and interesting. The Technician appears once again, albeit briefly. His motives are unknown, but he appears at S.T.A.R. Labs and destroys the telepathic earplugs that were left behind by the Legionnaires. In the meantime, Knockout is training Superboy on a beach. Ironically, it's Knockout's very presence that's caused Tan ...

(Maybe a preview of Superman: The Animated Series?) Finally, we also get the long-awaited premieres of the two 4-issue mini- series: THE GUARDIANS OF METROPOLIS and METROPOLIS S.C.U. One non-Previews note, which I discovered while browsing a copy of Comics Scene. Dave Gibbons, of Watchmen and Superman fame, is working on a new Superman Elseworlds called KAL. ItÕs the story of our favorite hero set in Medieval England. Watch for it later this year! And of course, youÕve no doubt seen the ads for ...

... en in 68000 assembly language, will be faster than Mackintosh Microsoft BASIC (619 sec) or MackPASCAL (328 sec) for Terry P.'s benchmark in issue #25. As a scientist, FORTRAN does come in handy. "More interesting, however, was the discussion I had with an ABSOFT representative when I ordered MackFORTRAN. The representative asked if I would be interested in a hardware floating point accelerator for the Mack. It seems ABSOFT plans to sell a piggyback board for the Mack with a 68000 and 32081 for about $500." ... ystem then worked 10,000 times out of 10,000 tries. A second, somewhat improved prototype was constructed, and is pictured on the front of newsletter #25. The two project engineers continued to learn more about the exact way the interface worked and which parameters were critical, but every attempt to use an asynchronous clock for the 16081 worked - 9,999 times out of 10,000. The newsletter editor reported the need for a synchronous clock on page 25 of issue 25. That issue also carried a schematic of a 16081/68000 interface. You may find this hard to believe, but a photocopy of portions of newsletter #25 somehow found its way to Nat Semi head ...
