... commemorate this anniversary, I'll be looking at a pair of stories that celebrated Supergirl's 25th anniversary, _Action Comics_ #555 and _Supergirl_ #20. Eschewing a standard Superman/Supergirl team-up, writer Paul Kupperberg created a "parallel story" using the same villain, Parasite. Each story had the same basic structure: hero saves civilians; hero is shown in his/her secret identity; Parasite attacks hero in his/her secret identity; hero recovers, fights Parasite, and is defeated; hero escapes from trap and defeats Parasite; heroes meet and compare notes.
