... ds with the Legion giving Superboy a flight ring and granting him honorary member status. While the series _Superboy And The Ravers_ died as of issue #19 and topped the Kaycees 'worst Superman family title' award towards the end of its run, it started out with great promise and had some enjoyable stories. The opening arc in issues #1-4 is a good self-contained introduction to the series and cast with terrific art by Paul Pelletier and Dan Davis. Also great fun was the three part "Road Trip" in issues #7-9, where Superboy and his pals travel America and meet Impulse (for the first time), stop in at Guy Gardner's Warriors club, and finally meet Su ...

... to remain and not assist Superman until the fight finally enters the city. When Supergirl does finally join the fray in _Superman: The Man of Steel_ #19, she is quickly removed by a single punch from Doomsday that leaves her a shattered mess in her protoplasmic form. Luthor retrieves her in _Adventures of Superman_ #498, reassuring her as he drapes his jacket around her and then carries her, apparently lovingly, back to his office. Although the story doesn't emphasize it, this scene and Luthor's jacket will play a significant role later. With encouragement from Luthor and with great pain and difficulty, Supergirl resumes her standard form. With ...

... The entire first year was enjoyable, starting with the origin issues (_LSH_ #0 and _L*_ #0) and the regular issues of both titles (_LSH_ #62 and _L*_ #19). If you can't find these issues, they will be reprinted in a trade paperback to be released in August 1999 called _Legion: The Beginning of Tomorrow_, collecting the issues from the zero issues to _LSH_ #65 and _L*_ #22. The balance of the issues from that first year are also well worth collecting as the Legion battled the racist group White Triangle (led by super powered Daxamites) through _LSH_ # 71, _L*_ #28, and the climax in the _LSH Annual_ #2 (1995). The current Superboy ties into the L ...

... more, albeit a married one (_Action Comics_ #484). Upon George Taylor's retirement, Clark Kent becomes editor of the Daily Star in _Superman Family_ #196. Clark and Lois attend the wedding of Bruce Wayne and Selina Kyle in _Superman Family_ #211, where it is revealed that the Earth-2 real name of Two-Face is Harvey Kent, not Dent. The Justice Society reforms in 1963, after an attack by their old enemy Vandal Savage (_Flash_ #137). Superman helps them battle Aquarius and meets the Superman of Earth-1 in 1969 (_JLA_ #73-74). In 1975, after the death of his wife, Bruce Wayne renounces his Batman career and becomes Police Commissioner of Gotham Cit ...

... of the covers struck me as all that bad this year, so I suppose I'm technically choosing the one I'm most indifferent about. The cover of _Supergirl_ #19 showed the Girl of Steel caught in a tornado of junk. Whoopee. Not only did the cover fail to provide any reason for me to be interested in the story within, but the busy, confused layout just didn't look good -- a true rarity for Leonard Kirk. If I hadn't already been a reader of Supergirl, there's little chance that I'd have even considered picking this particular issue up off the shelf. ST: Once again I find myself agreeing with your logic, but not your conclusion. Nothing was really *bad* t ...

... much weight. However, the Earth-Two Superman had met three others from Krypton-Two, all of them super-villains, in _Superman_ #65 and _Action Comics_ #194. The omission can be forgiven. After the heroes learned the origins of the Crisis on Infinite Earths, they assembled a squad of heavy hitters, including Mon-El, Captain Marvel, Captain Atom, Firestorm, J'onn J'onzz, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern of Earth-Two, Wildfire, and, yes, Supergirl, and were taken into the anti-matter universe of Qward to fight the Anti-Monitor and his minions. Kal-L admitted, upon seeing the Anti-Monitor's fortress of living stone, "In all my years...I-I've never seen an ...
