... Super-Heroes, Superboy and the Ravers, and Young Justice. Kesel reconnected Superboy to Legion lore by having him save a dying Lar Gand in _Superboy_ #18-19. Similar to the original pre-Crisis version, Superboy saves Lar (known pre-Crisis as Mon-el and post-Crisis as Valor and later M'Onel) from lead poisoning by sending him into a 'stasis zone' where he stays for the next 1,000 years until being freed and healed by the Legion. Superboy meets the Legion when they travel to his time to get information allowing them to save Lar in the story arc titled "Future Tense" (_Superboy_ #21, _Legion of Super-Heroes_ #74, and _Legionnaires_ #31). ... on-El and post-Crisis as Valor). Similar to pre-Crisis history, Superboy is forced to send Valor into a "Phantom Zone" to save his life in _Superboy_ #18-19. The Legion, discovering Valor's imprisonment 1,000 years later, returns to Superboy's time in "Future Tense" (_Superboy_ #21, _LSH_ #74, and _L*_ #31). Lar Gand takes the name M'Onel in _L*_ #37. The Legion battles one of its greatest enemies, Mordru, for the firs ...

... gn of the Superman" about a fantastic villain who used his super brain for evil. The splash page from that story (reprinted in Comic Book Price Guide #18) shows a giant who looks suspiciously like Luthor hovering over a bread line. Yes, the evil Professor Smalley took advantage of the depression gripping America to recruit subjects for his hideous experiments. Shortly after this story was finished, Jerry was seized with a new idea. Instead of having the evil Superman prey on the victims of the depression, why not a good Superman who would avenge the misfortunes of the downtrodden? Quickly, he got Joe Shuster busy sketching the new character and ...

He did try for a comeback in _Superman_ #182 in January 1966, in a Leo Dorfman scripted 8-pager with art by Curt Swan, done probably to promote the _Superman Giant_ released the same month in which Golden Age stories were reprinted for the very first time.
