... was written about someone from our Earth meeting the DC heroes. Cary Bates did the honours in May 1968's "Flash -- Fact Or Fiction" from _The Flash_ #179 (also reprinted in the collection _The Greatest Flash Stories Ever Told_). Flash gets knocked into a new Earth and finds that kids know all about him and his secret identity from their comics. Needing some help to build a Cosmic Treadmill, Barry heads off to find the "one man on Earth who might believe my fantastic story and give me the money I need -- the editor of that Flash comic mag!" With Julie's help, Barry builds his machine and heads back home. Classic Superman artist Curt Swan draws h ...

... mmediately pops on the super costume that she keeps around for just such occasions. (That's not a joke. The editor's foot note references _Lois Lane_ #17, May 1960.) Lois finds Superman sitting dejectedly in the park and tells him the good news. Then she goes off to cover Metropolis with a glass dome to protect it from an oncoming hurricane. The super boot is now on the other foot, as Lois tells Superman that she can't marry him because she has super powers and some day her enemies might try to kill him. Secretly, she gloats that she's just giving him a taste of his own medicine. Just then he keels over and passes into unconsciousness. Next mome ...

... history of the Legion came to a finale in 1994 (tying into the _Zero Hour_ miniseries) in a story arc called "End of an Era" (which runs through _L*_ #17-18, _Valor_ #22-23, and _LSH_ #60-61). Suffice to say, the Legion's 36 year continuous history comes to an end, making way for the current Legion. "End of an Era" finally reveals the true identity of the Time Trapper. It's a great plot twist, as the villain turns out to be someone essential to Legion history. The bittersweet tale nicely sheds a new light on one of the Legion's strangest foes. The "End of an Era" storyline isn't for the casual Legion reader. If you have enough knowledge of Legio ...

... 3-74). In 1975, after the death of his wife, Bruce Wayne renounces his Batman career and becomes Police Commissioner of Gotham City (_DC Super-Stars_ #17). In 1976, Superman's cousin Kara comes to Earth and takes the identity of Power Girl just in time to help Robin and the Star-Spangled Kid form the Super-Squad and defeat Brain Wave. Superman re-joins Power Girl and the JSA to battle Zanadu, the Chaos Lord (_All Star_ #62-63) but resigns soon after, trusting Power Girl to carry on in his place (_All Star_ #66). In 1977, Commissioner Bruce Wayne, under the influence of the Psycho Pirate, tries to disband the JSA. Only the intervention of Superma ...

... s - David does a good job of making it appear that the Rider's story has ended, leaving _Supergirl_ readers the option of skipping _Resurrection Man_ #17. Since this title already has several unanswered questions, though, I'm not pleased that another has been raised (the connection between Ember and Supergirl). ST: 3.5 Shields - Umm... reality check.
